So a few days ago I deleted Facebook. It's so freeing to have deleted my page. I thought about it for a couple of months and decided to do it for many reasons. One reason being the fact that Facebook is taking all of our personal information and using it however they like. Our lives are too public these days! We are spending so much time checking in on our neighbors we are missing out on life happening right now. I know Facebook makes people feel they are more connected with family and friends but this is a lie. Think about it.......when you go to a family or friends page you see pictures of them at their last event and their comments ect.... You actually never talk to them. Before Facebook was around we called our friends and family more to see how their week went. We didnt go to a page and look at it with no personal contact or interaction. For some friendships I believe this has taken the place of the personal contact. On the flip side of it, what is the point of checking in on people we dont really know or would never talk to outside of facebook? We might as well be watching a soap opera. How is this contributing to our lives? How is this contributing to our family? I believe it is breaking down the family! High school kids should not be allowed to even have a facebook in my opinion. Facebook is just one of the ways to tract us, distrack us, keep up with us and also use the information to others advantage. It is really apalling to me that Facebook can keep all of your information on file that you ever post even after you delete it. Facebok is just an information gathering system for reasons we might never know about. I for one am no longer giving them my personal information. I origianlly signed up because I wanted to grow my music fanbase. When I closed my acount I had 5000 friends and also over 2000 likes on my music page. This sounds great in theory but it really does not translate to anything. I want to make personal contact with my fans at my live shows and through my fanclub. For me, this is a better option and more benificial to everyone who are fans of my music.
