If you follow my Fearless Memories Instagram or Facebook page you've seen pics or heard me talking about the new collection, “Power of Awareness”. This has been a labor of love between myself and Leora Allen, a fellow Ovarian Cancer survivor. I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. I have my faith grounded in God and I know he is still in control yesterday, today and forever. In saying that, I know he put us in each other's path to not only help each other, but to help other women. We are both on the committee for “Chic Awearness”, an event that happens every year in September to raise money for research and awareness for Ovarian Cancer. This past year a few of us on the committee were ask to appear on a Nashville Channel 5 TV show, "Talk of The Town” to promote the event and model for an on air fashion show. We decided to car pool because of the lack of parking at the TV station. At the time I didn't know Leora very well, but we ended up carpooling together that day. We knew we were both Ovarian Cancer survivors, but we didn't realize until that day all the other commonalities. We are both only children, very artsy, love fashion and share a strong faith in God. I had been wanting to do a collection specifically for Ovarian Cancer for awhile, but had not spent the time yet to do it. I was selling Ovarian Cancer awareness bracelets, and also delivering them to patients at Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer center, but I really wanted to do an entire awareness collection. After getting to know Leora more, I threw out the idea of us working on a collection together and she was all in. Like I said, I believe everything happens for a reason. Sometimes the strength of two on a project like this is better than one. Especially when you share the commonality of surviving a disease some call the silent killer. We both know just how blessed we are to have survived and we want to help other women by spreading awareness through this collection. We want the beauty of our collection to provoke conversation. When a customer is ask about the necklace they're wearing, it will open up an opportunity to talk about the symptoms of Ovarian Cancer. We include vital information on Ovarian Cancer symptoms with each purchase. Survival depends so much on early detection, especially with Ovarian Cancer.
When you experience a storm like Ovarian Cancer, or any storm for that matter in your life, know that God is there right beside you. Working all things to his good. When you are in the midst of it, you have to seek him and he will give you strength. Meditate on his word and diligently seek and pray. Thank him for things you can't see or even feel at the time, but you know he is orchestrating behind the scenes. We all have a story and we can all use our stories to help others. This is a purpose all children of God share. Be thankful for your story and never look back. Let God help you through it, so when you are on the other side, you can tell your story with your head high, because you didn't let the storm define you. You let God define you.
Help us spread the word about Ovarian Cancer symptoms by purchasing a piece of jewelry from the “Power of Awareness” collection on FearlessMemories.com. Go there to learn the 5 primary symptoms and see if you are at high risk for Ovarian Cancer. Yearly Pap smears do not detect Ovarian Cancer. Knowledge is power, hence…the “Power of Awareness”. Have a blessed day.
